Take the Cherokee exit off of Highway 441 North; the school is approximately
two-tenths of a mile on the right.

Pre K-8 elementary school, Smokey Mountain serves a mixed population of
Caucasian and Native American children. The school always needs tutors
to read with students and volunteers who will serve as mentors and build
self-esteem in children. People who love the outdoors may be interested
in helping with the school's environmental projects. Volunteers may read
to children, help children learn math facts, help with hands on science,
be a friend to a child with low self-esteem, do clerical work for teachers,
and work with Learn/Serve team environmental projects that have been established.
Training required:
None.
Time commitment:
2 hours or more at a time.
Skills, experiences,
and special requirements: Volunteers should have the welfare of
the children at heart.
