Agency description:
Together and Growing (TAG) is a collaborative project between Big Brothers
Big Sisters of Western North Carolina, Western Carolina University, Southwestern
Community College, and Fairview Elementary School. TAG offers opportunities
for WCU students to have fun while making a difference in a child's life.
The children and mentors will participate in the program during the fall
and spring semesters. Western Carolina University students have an opportunity
to work with elementary school students in a mentoring program.
Big Brothers, Big Sisters staff will facilitate structured activities one
afternoon a week at Fairview Elementary School. Mentors are asked to attend
the weekly sessions and be positive role models and friends to the Littles.
Interested volunteers should attend a TAG information and training session
and complete an application.
Training required:
In-service and on-the-job training varies according to the volunteer's
duties.
Time commitment:
Varies.
Skills, Experience,
and Special Requirements: Anyone who enjoys working with children.
