Agency description:
The
Friends Program matches volunteers in the community with youth, ages seven
to seventeen, who are in need of adult role models. Volunteers will develop
a one-on-one friendship with a youngster by spending time with them each
week encouraging them in positive goal setting, social skills, good study
habits, and having fun in a safe, healthy, productive way.
Training: During
six hours of required training, volunteers will acquire the skills needed
to work with youth. They will also learn about the particular youth they
will mentor.
Time commitment:
Please donate two to four hours per week.
Skills, Experience,
and Special Requirements: Volunteers should be patient, caring,
and committed to meeting with a youth weekly. They must also be eighteen
years of age or older, have a driver's license, and own an insured vehicle.
References will be requested, and everyone must submit to a background
check.
