Agency description:
The Girl Scout Council inspires girls to the highest ideals of character,
conduct, patriotism, and service so that they might become happy and resourceful
citizens. It serves Jackson County girls in traditional troop structures
and by sponsoring a variety of after-school and summer camp programs though
the school system. Aside from volunteering in these positions, the
Girl Scouts need administrators, such as county media and special event
coordinators. Program volunteers may help with camping, arts and
crafts, and other activities.
Time commitment:
Volunteer commitment depends upon the job; both short-term and annual commitments
are usually available.
Skills, experiences,
and special requirements: Because of the variety of job opportunities,
necessary skills change according to the task. Nonetheless, volunteers
must be dependable and positive, and they should be good role models for
girls. The Girl Scout Council does not limit its volunteers to women;
any individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of girls is
welcome.
