Location:  The American Red Cross office is at 454 Main Street in downtown Sylva, between Sylva Insurance and Meatball’s. 

Agency description: A nonprofit, volunteer agency, the American Red Cross prevents and relieves human suffering.  It provides aid through several programs: blood services, disaster relief, services to military families, international tracing, youth activities, swimming and life-guarding, and health and safety services (i.e. CPR and First Aid education).  The Red Cross needs certified CPR and First Aid instructors to teach classes.  Other volunteers may help in the office or at the hospital and serve on various committees. Volunteers can serve families and individuals in Jackson County through blood services, disaster relief and preparedness education, services to military family members in crisis, health and safety education, office assistance, marketing and program development, and youth leadership.

Time commitment: Flexible.

Skills, experiences, and special requirements: There is a place for everyone to volunteer in the Red Cross.
