Location: At McDonald's in Sylva, turn onto Skyland Drive. UCM is the first house past the Azalea Motel, at 191 Skyland Drive.

Agency description: An interdenominational crisis ministry, UCM helps Jackson County people who have urgent physical, economic, social, and spiritual needs. On emergency basis, it offers food, clothing, and assistance with housing costs, transportation, and health services. It also works closely with appropriate county, state, and federal agencies to acquire various forms of aid. Volunteers may stock and distribute food, pick up and deliver donated furniture, and sort and package other donated items. Office volunteers may help with typing, filing, answering phones, and cleaning; other volunteers may serve as counselors.

Training required: The director and various seasonal counselors will train volunteers while working in the field. 

Time commitment: Please volunteer from one hour a week to two days a week.
